Fliegen Lernen
Tracklist
Faust co-founder Werner 'Zappi' Wusthoff has never been one for colouring inside the lines, and Fliegen Lernen finds the German musician still pulling unlikely rabbits from unlikely hats more than half a century after the krautrock outfit first turned convention on its head. Drawn from decades of archive recordings, this offering never feels like a trip through the vaults, with old ideas forever bumping into new ones. 'Horst Du Die Schritte' throwing jerky piano and wiry punk-funk into the same bubbling cauldron before 'Down, Down And Come To Me' locks into a gloriously lopsided mechanical groove. Vacuum cleaner hoses, rubber gloves and the odd kitchen fly all chip in for good measure, proof that Wusthoff still has a trick or two up his sleeve when it comes to making the everyday sound anything but.
