Sunday In New York
Stanley Turrentine’s stellar 1964 album, In Memory Of, traversed swinging hard bop, beautiful balladry and African rhythms with the saxophonist fronting a tremendous sextet with Blue Mitchell (trumpet), Curtis Fuller (trombone), Herbie Hancock (piano), Bob Cranshaw (bass), and Otis “Candy” Finch (drums).
