Doux Ami
Germany's Jean-Herve Peron has rarely met a sound he couldn't put to work, and this offering gives him a whole album's worth of excuses here. Recorded with more than 20 friends and fellow travellers, it darts from the cut-and-paste mischief of 'Charles & Leon' to the skewed avant-pop of 'Diabolus in Musica', before taking a surprisingly tender turn on the late-night lament 'Du Fehlst Mir'. 'Telele' is like childhood memory that has wandered slightly off course, then 'Doux Ami' closes proceedings with the door flung open and everyone invited in. Faust business, in other words.
